WHAT IS PINATEX FABRIC?
Pinatex fabric is made from cellulose fibers of pineapple leaves.
PINATEX FABRIC MANUFACTURING PROCESS
1. Leaf collection: Collecting pineapple leaves after the pineapple harvest.
2. Fiber extraction: The long fibers are extracted from these leaves by using semi-automatic machines.
3. Washing & drying: The fibers are washed and dried naturally by the sun.
4. Fiber purification: These fibers go through a purification process to remove all impurities.
5. Piñafelt: The fibers are mixed with a corn based polylactic acid (PLA) and Piñafelt is created by a mechanical process which is a non-woven mesh.
6. Finishing: The Piñafelt is colored and applied by a resin top coating to increase strength and durability.
